Finally got some free time to color this one. I used water color pencils, but have not done any of the actual blending yet, just the dry pencils. What do you think? Looking for honest criticism. (Yes, you can be brutal) I had a rough time with deciding how to color the birds and don't quite like them. Maybe after I get the colors blended they will look better. The pic is pretty large, so you should be able to click it and see it much bigger. Images used in the zentangle are stamps from Wild Frog Creations.

ReplyDeleteHugs, Elenor
great work!
ReplyDeleteWow-I think this is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI especially like the woman with the iris. I'm uncertain why this would be considered a zentangle though..
ReplyDeleteThank you for your opinion Pat. I have looked at this artwork again and you are right. Although I have used tangle patterns for the entire background and foreground, which includes the plants, I made them look more like a picture than a zentangle. The Iris Woman is not part of the zentangle artwork, just a header on my blog.
Deletei like it. it has a mystical feel. i bet the blending will make it spectacular. i like the birds by the way! xo
ReplyDeleteA beautiful piece of art - I love the colours you have chosen.
ReplyDeletexxx Hazel.
This is great Shelley - so much to look at!
ReplyDeleteI'm lovin your zentangle works, Shelley!
ReplyDeleteI'm no expert Shelley, but it looks absolutely great to me - maybe I'd have used a more contrasting colour for the birds? I bet it'll look even better once you've done the blending too x
ReplyDeleteI think you have a market on Zen work! Love this, Shelley! Thank you for posting my blog candy and being a long time follower!
ReplyDeleteLoved it in B&W and think it is beautiful in color! My only opinion (which you can take or leave!!) is that I feel it is kind of flat - like all the colors are in the same tones. I think I would add some dark or bold colors as shading to add contrast. Dark brown or black to shade the bird, maybe a really deep dark green to shade the leaves... once it's all blended I think it is going to look awesome! Nice work.
