Last Minute Valentines & Very Bad Hair Day

This past weekend I decided I had to make DH a valentine after all. It was that or go to the store and tell him I didn't feel like making him a Valentine. Can't do that, seriously, now could I?
So off I went to the craft room and the first card I made turned out very nice indeed . . . if I were giving it to a woman.
*sigh* What was I thinking? Ok, so here's the first card, totally unsuitable for a man:

Each section of the inside heart book is either stamped with words (Love, Cute, Sweet, Irresistible, XOXO, etc) or stickers. The card is an oversized 5 1/2" X 7 1/4". I got the pattern for the heart book on the inside here. I've decided to enter this one into Inspiration Emporium's "Put a Heart on It" challenge. That was Saturdays work.

Back to the craft room on Sunday to make a manly card. Here's was where the bad hair day came in. First I cut off about an inch of my hair in the Fisker's cutting when cutting the darn cardstock to the correct size. Once again a 5 1/2" X 7 1/2" card on two sided stock. One side red, the other pink.
Then I got my hair somehow taped under the first layer with the double stick tape. Crap. Ok, that did it. I took the time to get a large hairclip. Then I stabbed myself with the exacto knife while trying to get the fancy red fiber out from underneath the King of Heart. Had to go get a bandaid, took the darn hairclip out that was giving me a headache and wnet back to it. Finally finished the front successfully, then glued my hair to the pop - up on the inside with the elmers glue. Good thing this card was for dh, lol. Anyway, I was not very happy with the way this one turned out, but I think he will like it. Here are the pics. Outside:

And inside. It's hard to tell the center heart is a pop up, but it really is.

And those are the only two Valentines I made this year.

Floral Zentangle

Here is an 8 1/2" X 11" zentangle that I made for my large journal. I've done several of these recently and this one was made very quickly in free minutes here and there over the course of about a week. I don't think I ever worked on it for more than 15 minutes at a time. It's certainly not my best, lol.

Time Flies

Times sure does fly. I haven't posted since March of 2011. Once you stop doing something for awhile it seems easy not to go back to it. Like exercising, eating properly and blogging too I guess. I've been meaning to post for ages. So todays the day I start back, before I hit the year mark.

Some of you may want to know what I've been doing for 10 months, most of you won't care. I've been playing, traveling, eating poorly, being lazy, etc. The playing included some crafting, but mostly I was addicted to a zynga game called Farmville. I am now breaking that addiction. The travel included 2 trips to Mexico, 2 trips to Florida, several trips to mountain towns in Colorado and I forget where else.

Anyway I'm back. I've been visiting blogs again for 2 weeks but haven't been posting comments yet. You've all helped inspire me to come back to blogging. Thanks!!

Dragonfly Zentangle

Sorry about my long almost 2 week absence. Unfortuneately, I became addicted to a silly game called Farmville on Facebook. My sister called and needed a friend, talked me into playing and I was hooked from the start. Jumped to level 30 in under 2 weeks. Anyone else addicted and need another neighbor?

Enough babbling, onto my latest zentangle for in my zentangle journal. I'll show the entire journal when I finish the picture pages. This one is done around 3 images from Wild Frog Creations Rubber stamps Mosaic Frog Sheet. The page is another 81/2" X 11". Whatcha think? I believe if you click on the picture it will take you to a larger image.

Frog Wars Side Step Card

A spoof on Star Wars side step card. I took the photos before the card was finished. After taking the photos I lightened the glow around the light saber and added clear sparkle glitter to it, but you will have to use your imagination since I gave the card away before taking another photo.

Stamps are the Frog Wars set from Wild Frog Creations Rubber Stamps. Took two photos cuz the first did not show the Hans Solo frog's legs very well. It's actually cuter in person, especially since I fixed the light saber. For a kid's birthday.

Red and White Color Challenge

I finally have my computer back after doing without for a week. Then when I get back online I can read emails but NOT send emails. Great. Finally figured it out, had nothing to do with the computer. My server changed the port for outgoing mail. Would have been nice of them to notify users of that fact. Instead I had to dig the info off their website. Sigh . . .enough ranting.

First thing I noticed on catching up reading blogs was the challenge over at Vicki's Cheerful Stamppad. Red and White. No time to enter this, I have taxes to do! But wait! What's that she's got for a prize?!? Ooooh, aaaaahhhhhhhh, *drool* they look like Alice stamps! From Scroll Works!! AAARRRRGH! I had to stamp something, I need these stamps! Yeah right, I could buy them, but I have thousands already, and it's not as much fun as entering a contest.

So here is what I stamped for Vicki's contest. In a rush (as usual) I closed my eyes, turned around and picked up the first stamp from the shelf my fingers landed on. Oh crap, a daisy, well that doesn't go with a red and white theme. Hmmmm, with a little imagination a daisy could be red. They do dye them pink, blue and other colors for bouquets in florists shops. So I ran with it. Here it is.

Daisy was colored with watercolor pencils. Added glitter to the center and the leaf. Keeping my fingers crossed that I win the stamps! Now to finish catching up on my reading. The taxes will wait.

Easel Card Valentine

I will be wuithout a computer soon for about a week, so will be behind in my reading. I may be able to check in daily at the library, if it ever warms up enough that I want to go out again after work. Anyway . . . short post, getting done quickly.

Rose Woman Card

This card is actually another Valentine, although you can't really tell from the outside. It does have a Valentine friendship verse on the inside for my girlfriend. I made this one a standard sized card with a grey textured cardstock and a layer of red velvet paper. Image is the Rose Woman from Wild Frog Creations Rubber Stamps colored with water color pencils. This is one of my favorite rubber stamps and I'm so sorry that the scan did not pick up the true colors on the card or the image.

Something Girly

I almost threw the main image in the trash when I had it done, so glad I decided to try to save it. I had stamped 5 of the bottles from Wild Frog Creations Rubber Stamps "Flasks" plate on cream cardstock, colored them and then put a layer of Crystal Laquer over the top of each, giving them the Glass look.
So far, so good. Then I dabbed plum paint all around the bottles. That's when I decided I had ruined the works, lol. Actually, I did throw it in the trash but then picked it back out. It was my craft room trash so that's ok, as it's just paper shavings and such. Decided to put a card together and take a chance that it would turn out.

Used plum cardstock and dug a matching piece of patterned paper out of a wallpaper book. Little bit of ecru lace and some fibers and I was done. Figured it wasn't too bad after all.

Simple Valentine

This Valentine was simple to make. Just layers of pink cardstock, some punched with my square punches, then tiny heart stickers stuck on the center squares. Sentiment just stamped on pink and cut out. It was an easy under 15 minute card to make.

I've really got to get all these Valentines posted soon so I can get them ready to be sent out. I only have 3 more to scan.

Shelf Liner Valentines

Once again, two very similar Valentines. The only difference is the layout. Both were made using the exact same red cardstock, but the scans make them look different colors. There are layers of gold foil Christmas wrap leftovers, and layers of velvety textured paper in shades of red. The sentimants are actually

stickers. The hearts were made using a piece of that rubbery type shelf liner for kitchen shelves (also the same stuff is sold to keep throw rugs from slipping). The shelf liner was inked with several shades of red, pink, gold and silver and gently heat set with a tad of clear embossing powder. This stuff is fun to work with, as it melts easily and can be shaped and can also give you a good burn when you are trying to shape a melted piece, lol.

Zentangle Goddess

Way back in last May I posted a page from the Zentangle Journal I was making and promised to post more pages. *heavy sigh* I have so many unfinished projects. I used to be good at finishing what I started, but when I have too many ideas and projects I get behind. So anyway, here's another page of the someday to be completed journal. (Just stumbled across it again, lol) I used the Sunset/Sunrise Goddess stamp from Wild Frog Creations Rubber Stamps as the center image, the added zentangles to it and around it to create a frame of sorts. Click on the pictures, then again when it opens to enlarge them if interested.

Just noticed I scanned it crooked. Oh well. In case you missed the post last May or don't remember, I'll save you the trouble of searching back for it and repost the photo here:

This one also uses a rubber stamp from Wild Frog Creations as the center point and I like it much better than the other. Less structered. I have 2 other pages (both in progress) for this journal and I hope to someday this year to finish it all and put it together with a piano hinge. Time will tell.

Paper Scrap Valentines

Here are another 2 Valentines that are vey similar. Again, I had so much fun with the first that I had to make a second using different colors. I seldom ever make one card at a time. I did not use any rubber stamps on this card.

These are both standard size cards on black glossy stock. The center layer of each was done by cutting strips of leftover Christmas gift wrap and adhering it to black glossy cardstock diagonally in two different directions, then cut to size.

The silver cording is also left over from Christmas packages. The heart in the center is a wooden heart shape dipped in UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel) in my melting pot. Several colors of glitter and embossing powders were added while the UTEE was still hot, then it was dipped in the clear UTEE again.

Challenge Card Frog in a Tea Cup

Made this card today. I was surfing blogs and came across a few challenges I wanted to join.
Frog image and the letters from the Frog Alphabet are from Wild Frog Creations Rubber Stamps.
I did take a few liberties. First I colored and enlarged the frog image, then stamped and reduced the alphabet letters. Wild Frog's angel policy does allow this. I can't remember where I got the vellum with the teacups on it . . . sigh.

I screwed up tying the bow again. I am seriously bow challenged, lol.

Iris Folded Valentines

These two Valentines are almost identical. I really liked doing this one so I did a second using just a different color for the folding and a different color ink.

Stamp is from Azadi with the center cut out of the heart and the iris folding is inside the heart. Hope it shows up in the scan. I should have used 2 different colors on the red so it would show up better.

Kewpie Doll Card

After work today I tried to get busy cleaning the craft room. Here's what I did instead, lol. I'll clean the craft mess tomorrow.

The Kewpie Doll stamp is from Wild Frog Creations. First photo was a bit light and second photo a bit dark and neither shows the true colors good enough so I'll post both. I prefer scanning cards, but the lace around the image would have flattened.

Valentines

I'm finally back online after almost 3 weeks off for Christmas vacation. I've spent the last 3 days catching up on reading from my blog lists. Didn't make a lot of comments but enjoyed catching up. Meanwhile, I've been making Valentines. I enjoy them so much more than Christmas cards for some reason. So far I've done 12, lol. Thought I'd start by posting my 2 least favorites. These ones are for little kiddos. On the cute side.

First one uses the "Layer Up" technique from Technique Junkies. The flowers in the basket and the hair bows are layered up. Stamps are from Azadi.

2nd card also has stamps from Azadi:

Little kids will like these two. Tomorrow I'll post the card for the teenages, I like them much better.

North Pole & Company

This post has been editied, scroll down a bit to see the Snow Woman card that I added it this morning after deciding she needed dressed. This card is an oversized 8 1/2" X 5 1/2".

I always seem to be a day late on challenges and then miss them completely. So this card will be late for only one challenge and only because it's still the 4th here, but it's the 5th overseas . . . sigh. Without further ado, here is my SnowWoman:

Too bad all the sparkle, glitter and foils don't show up in the scan. Snow Woman is made using the Fashion Doll stamp from Wild Frog Creations. Snow at the bottom is actually sparkly white super thin layers of sea shell with glitter. Snow on background is spattered white paint. Snowflakes are foil punched, confetti and charms. Snow woman's hair is also snowflakes. Stick on the sign is a wooden skewer.

Sketch used is from Cardabilities Design Team Reveal - Sketch # 16 :

Here is the card after I decided to dress the Snow Woman. I like it better, but it did hide an element of the sketch. Before I send this card out, I will tone down the color of the snowflakes that make up her hair. I meant this card to be semi monotone with lots of spark and glitter. Somehow, it looks good in person, but I think the scan just turned out blah.

5. I love animals and have 3 dogs. I am allergic to cats. Love them, but they make me sneeze.
6. I collect the odd, wierd, unusual, unique items which I store in a display case in my craft room.
7. I strongly dislike shopping. I abhore shopping. Even for clothes.
8. I own far too many shoes. Really.

Kimono Challenge & a Simple Kimono Card Tutorial

Here is the first challenge on this blog. The theme of this one is "Kimono". Please join me and submit any type of artwork that contains a kimono. Folded, stamped, digital, painted, etc. New artwork or old artwork that you still have laying around. Anything goes!

Entries will be accepted through Dec 2nd. Please use the linky at the end of this post to add your submissions. Winner of this challenge will receive a grab bag of 6 unmounted rubber stamps. Grabbag will include 2 Christmas stamps, 1 birthday stamp, 1 corner stamp, 1 texture stamp and 1 autumn verse stamp.

Don't have any Kimono stamps, digitals or stickers? No old cards or posts with kimonos? No problem, just use the instructions below to make a Kimono shaped card.

Kimono Card Instructions

Several folks have asked me for instructions to make the tunnel card that is in a previous post.

I will make a tutorial for that hopefully next week. It's a little complicated and I don't have the time to explain that one right now. However, I did make a Kimono card and it's so simple that I thought I would use it for my first blog tutorial.

There are many patterns online to make fancier folded kimono cards. If interested, just do a google search.

There are no fancy folds in this tutorial. Also, this card can be made with your scrap pieces! Yea!

Materials Needed:
Scraps of cardstock cut to the sizes below. I used scraps from previous projects for the sample that had already been colored.
2 pieces of cardstock that are 11" X 2 1/2"

1 piece of cardstock that is 4" X 5 1/2"
1 piece of cardstock that is 10" X 1 3/4"
1 piece of cardstock that is 9" X 1"
Scrap of Ribbon
1 embellishment (button, charm, flower etc)
Adhesive of choice

Instructions:
Fold each long strip of cardstock in half. Fold the rectangular piece in half so it is 2" X 5 1/2".

Slip one of the longest folded pieces into the 2" X 5 1/2" piece, centering it and glue it into place.

Slip the other longest folded piece over the 2" X 5 1/2" piece, aligning it with the first long piece and glue it into place. Now you have the basic kimono shape. Se it aside.

Take the 1" wide piece and slip it over the 1 3/4" wide piece and glue into place. Wrap and tie the ribbon around it.

Slip this piece over the top of the kimono that you set aside earlier and glue into place.. Add the embellishment of your choice.

If desired, round all edges. Voila! A simple kimono card using scraps.

Just haven't been able to face Christmas yet I guess. However, I will start Christmas cards tonight! Yes, I will. Here are two more cards with kimonos. These are not new cards. But since I always (or mostly always) make two of everything because I just can't bear to give something pretty away unless I keep one for myself AND because I have to check and see if the linky thingy on the challenge post actually works I decided to post these two cards, lol.

3-D Picture Frame or Tunnel Card

I've heard this type of card called many different things but most commonly called tunnel or 3-D picture frame. When making a card which uses templates, special cuts or patterns, I usually make 2 because of the time involved. I did not follow that rule this time for some odd reason. I simply forgot . . .*sigh* . The "tunnel" or frames are on the inside (scroll down for photo).

This card is an odd sized 7" X 5 1/4". Card front background was made using the Texture Duet technique
from the Oct/Nov Technique Junkies Newsletter. Image was colored with pencils, torn and attached to the top. Added a couple flowers and will put a greeting of some sort in the upper left corner when I am ready to send this off to someone. I'll post 2 pics of the outside. The first shows the truer colors, but at an odd angle:

The second shows full front, but the colors are too bright due to little old me trying to play with getting the colors on this one a little brighter. Nothing seems to be going quite right this week.

Here is the photo of the inside of the card where the "tunnel" comes into play. The outer 3 layers of the frame were not stamped. Instead I used some 3 different scrapbooking papers from Art Impressions, cut and glued onto very light weight cardstock. I found the lighter weight cardstock works better than heavier weight for this in the past. Thanks goodness I remembered that. Inside scene was colored with both pencils and chalks. Western Cowboy Card

It's ok I guess, so I'll post it. I decided I should put up both the good and the bad. Couldn't find my glasses when I started making this, but just kept at it and was not able to see any of the mistakes I made, lol. Stamps are from an unmounted sheet of 10 western stamps that I used to carry, but took off the website as they weren't such a good seller. I chose 5 from the set, colored them with pencils and attached to a piece of craft paper that I put though my corragating tool. The corragating does not show up on the scan.

Wrapped raffia around it, mounted it on burgundy added two star charms and a piece of a button from old blue jeans.

GC77: Haute Couture Entry Card

Here is my entry for the GC77: Haute Couture Challenge over at Gingersnap Creations

Bricks on the house were hand drawn (with a ruler, I'm not quite that good, lol). The house is my own template from years ago (see previous post for exact year). It a 3 fold card to create the room behind the window. Lace scraps for the curtain and wallpaper for the interior wall, Dried flowers were added. The window fram, beehive and woman were stamps and I can't quite remember what company made them at the moment. I'll have to go back to the stamp room and check later.

SCD House Entry

I've decided to play along with the House Challenge over at Something Completely Different. Actually, this challenge fell right into my lap. I was already making a house card, actually 2 house cards. I always make two. Had the house already cut out and half decorated. The first house is for a different challenge and I will hopefully be posting it tomorrow. But I digress . . .so anyhow, this was my own house template designed back in 1984, not that any house templates are very different I guess, just that this one is sorta 3-d, not quite as thick as a shaker card but thick enough to give the impression of a room behind the window. I keep going off on tangents here, it's been that kinda day. . . sigh. Made my own bricks with a ruler. Cream cardstock sponged with burgundy, couldn't quite duplicate the color of the brick on my home that I was going for but I didn't try real hard. The window frame, window box and welcome friends sign are from a retired StampinUp set. The tulips were from a generic foam kids set.

The window is acetate, of course, the wallpaper on the wall inside the house is actually, well, just wallpaper from my wallpaper sample book, lol. The drawback lace curtains are lace scraps. I think the kitty in the window is StampinUp. There are real dried flowers in the 3-D flower box.

VooDoo Wall Hanging

I think I've had way too much coffee, as most of the pics I took turned out blurry. At least some of the close ups are decent.

At any rate, this was made from a piece of a used priority mail box. Spray painted black then sprayed again with black webbing spray and the webbing only shows up on the close up of the verse. All of the voodoo doll stamps, rune stones etc are from Wild Frog Creations Rubber Stamps. Here's a close up pic of the front, scroll down for a pic of the entire piece:

This is a close up of the bottom left with the verse and the shrink plastic rune stones and rune symbols. Hmmm, guess I should mention that I stamped all the images, enlarged them and printed out on the shrink plastic to get thicker embellishments, the earrings and pendant. Only the doll in the pocket is NOT shrink plastic. This is the only pic that shows the webbing spray clearly. Click on the picture to read the verse better:

The big center thingy at the top is a piece of copper metal hand engraved (well, I did use engraving tools) and heated with a heat gun to get the color changes in the metal. I'm afraid the face doesn't show very clearly either.

And here is the entire finished piece. It has jute wrapped around the edges and the earrings and pendant are removable. The doll in the pocket is removable also.

It's a little late, but this was to be given to my daughter to add to her Halloween decorations.

Intended to be comical and use some of my stamps, NOT poking fun at any religion as I respect everyones individual religous beliefs.

Think Pink Challenge Entry

Here is my submission for Vicki's "Think Pink" themed challenge over at The Cheerful Stamp Pad.

This one actually needs a bit of explanation, or maybe not, lol. I was trying to decide what to make for this challenge and said to myself "OK, what do I make for Vicki's Thing Pink thingy. Hmmm, Vicki's Think Pink, Vicki's Think Pink, Vicki's Think Pink. OH MY GOSH! That sounds just like a Victoria's Secret logo!" I have to use one of my Vickki's bags. Yep, old ladies shop at Vickki's too. The different pink bags and tissues they wrap in are always saved for recycled crafts in my home, lol.

Base card is white cardstock, card is 6" tall X 5 1/2". Top of background is embossed pink skytone cardstock. Bottom of background is cut out of a Victoria's Secret bag. Sheer pink lacy ribbon with white polka dots covering the join.

Now I thought the only colors to be used in this challenge were pink and white and putting a girl on the card with pink and white hair just wouldn't do. What else is pink that will go on this card? Why, my sexy pink Pig Doll stamp. Of course! Pig Doll (named Victoria for this challenge) and her Clothes rubber stamps used were from Wild Frog Creations Rubber Stamps. The name Victoria was cut from the side of a Vickki's bag. The heart embellishment did not scan well. It is actually pink also. OH NO! The ribbon rose in the bottom corner has two green leaves. I scanned the card before I noticed them. SO I CUT THEM OFF,
but I'm too lazy this morning to re scan the card. Hey. They aren't there. You don't seem them. Really.

Fall Pinwheel Cards

My attemps at the Pinwheel Technique from Technique Junkies. Two cards.

The first was done with brown cardstock. Pinwheel made from wallpaper pieces layered on dusky olive green, mounted on more wallpaper and layered on orange cardstock. Pumpkin from Wild Frog Creations. Leaf charms added as accents.

The second card. Black cardstock. Pinwheel made with metallic (does not show up well in the scan) paper and black cardstock. Mounted on background made with d'vine swirl embossing folder and metallic rub on's. Once agin, the metallics don't show up very well on the scan. Same pumpkin from Wild Frog Creations mounted on the pinwheel.

Two Halloween Cards

I like the first card best. Orange card, background made using blue cardstock and the D'vine Swirl embossing folder with black ink. Stamps are discontinued stamps from Wild Frog Creations. Image colored with markers.

Second card was done on black glossy with webbing spray. Image is also a discontinued one (although I still have the molds) colored with markers and chalks. Orange and black ribbons tied together.

Christmas Articulated Moving Frog Puppet Card

First Christmas card I have made this year. This one will most likely go to one of my grandchildren.
It's an oversize 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" on cream cardstock. The Frog Doll rubber stamp is from Wild Frog Creations. He was colored with colored pencils and blended with a Dove blender, pieces joined together semi -loosely (just tight enough that he can still move) with tiny green paper fasteners. A Santa hat with pom pom tassel was added along with a ribbon bow. Embroidery thread was used to create the working mechanism to make the puppet move when the tree lite bulb on the end of the string is pulled. Both his arms and legs move.

By this time I was tired and just slapped the guy down on background paper with mounting cushion, being careful to place it where it would not interfere with the puppet mechanism, added some punched corners and called it good enough. I had planned to have holly in the corners, but it was too much trouble, lol.

Fall Leaf Card

This fall leaf card is the standard 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" size.

Glossy white cardstock base. Front was stamped with the
large leaf stamp from Wild Frog Creations & colored with markers.
The front was then trimmed along the outlines of the outer leaf
edges to about 3/4 size to reveal the inside of the card.
Inside of card has orange glossy paper to match the leaf color
and the sentiment "Happy Fall".

Wild Thing Zig Zag Accordian Fold Card

Birthdays are coming up in September, so I've been making cards . . . finally. Here is the one I've just finished and guess what? I forgot to put Happy Birthday anywhere on it!

This card also fits right in with the GC67: Random Redhead Challenge: Go 3D over at
Gingersnap Creations blog.

Scroll down for all the pics, there's several. I used a TJ technique called a Zig Zag Accordian Card, but I altered it to suit my needs. The base of this one is actually 8 1/2" wide. Wasn't sturdy enough to suit me at that size so I added braces to the bottom.

The embellishments on the base include a black panther peeking from behind the bushes where he lays in wait of prey and a tribal carving. The leaves, flowers and bushes are all hand cut and glued only at the base

so the tops float freely and are also layered with 1/8" thick mounting tape and 1/4" thick mounting tape.

The monkey stamp is from Diamonds rubber stamp company.

Detail photos came out blurry. Figures. I may be able to retake them later, but these will do for now.

Guess this card will have to be put into a box instead of an envelope. Oh well, I had fun doing it.

Excuses, excuses

It's been awhile, I've been busy working festivals. 12 - 16 hour days and I've done 20 days in July and August. Yep, had to take some vacation days from my real job to do these and had a blast. As if that wasn't enough insanity, we decided to have a garage sale, lol.

Creativity hasn't been entirely on the back burner. I bought a beat up junk guitar at a garage sale in June and I've been working on that off and on. Sanded it, did repairs and now have finally started painting a scene on the back.

So that what has kept me away. Now it's time to come back and make some art!

GC59: Random Redhead Challenge - Fairies

For the GC59: Random Redhead Challenge - Fairies over at Gingersnap Creations I created a mini diorama or 3-D scene. Be sure to scroll down to see all the photos and close ups.

The first photo is a bit blurry, sorry. The piece is 5 1/2" tall X 7 1/2" wide. The background was stamped with pine trees from StampinUp and colored with chalks. The dryads or tree people, maple tree, woodland elf and fairy are from Wild Frog Creations Rubber Stamps. I added wings (acetate and glitter) to the woodland elf to make her a fairy also.

Mosaic Frog

I attemped a bow yet again and was somewhat more successful this time, lol.

Mosaic Frog image from Wild Frog Creations Rubber Stamps was stamped on acetate and glittered on the back side. I'm sorry the glitter does not show up well on the scan. It is shades of green, blue and gold. Then it was mounted on a piece of shelf liner that was colored blue with my ink pad. White card stock was sponged with the same ink and sprayed with gold webbing spray.

FCD Eclipse Challenge

Challenge: You’re HOT and you’re COLD….Eclipse Challenge

I used the digital image provided by FireCracker Designs for this challenge and chose the conflict between hot and cold. The image was colored with watercolor pencils and blended with a dove blender (cold), then covered with embossing fluid, clear detail powder and heat embossed 4 times for a think glasslike glossy finish.

Altered Box Love Potion # 9 additional Info

I hade several questions on the assemblege in the post below, so thought I should put a few notes here. Sorry I didn't do this earlier, but making the entire piece in just a couple days (work days during the week at that) overwhelmed me to the point that when I posted the project way past my usual bedtime that night I forgot to add any actual info.

The base is actually a CD case, primered with plastic primer, painted gold, cov ered with itty bitty gold beads on the top, 4 gold balls as the pedestal feet, gold ribbon around edges and decorated with crystal balls on each corner made from wooden and glass beads. The shell pieces were just scattered randomly for the photo, they are not meant to be attached to the piece.

The bottle is a tiny vintage glass bottle with a vial type glass dropper. Don't know the original use. It is filled with clear hair gel that is tinted with a drop of blue paint and a drop of glitter. A pinky ring with a heart on it was used as the decoration on the bottle.

The box itself was painted with gold acrylic and rubbed with blue, copper and red metallic rub on's before it was sealed.

2 More Torn Paper Background Cards

These two cards were made specifically for a challenge using the torn paper technique, but we were given permission to "tweak" it to fit our needs. Therefore, I made my backgrounds of torn magazine pages glued to cardstock. I've done a lot of this in the past with great results and I think it's a lot of fun.

GC57: Chestnut Theme - Wings Challenge

Over at Gingersnap Creations they are having a month long flight theme. This is my entry for their GC57: Chestnut Theme - Wings Challenge.

I know you've all seen this image before, but it's one I love. Bird Woman and Quote are both rubber stamps from Wild Frog Creations. The background is simply torn black and white paper! I entered this card in a torn paper challenge also.

Hybrid Transforming Frog Woman

This card is 4 3/4" X 6 3/4". Scanner did not quite pick up the correct colors. Background is olive green, frame around the morphing frog woman is a green-yellow, frog woman is a lime green.

Ribbon bow was handmade and held together with a paper fastener that was tinted green with green pigment ink and embossed with clear powder. I am NOT good at bows of any kind and I have one on the next card I'm in the middle of now, lol.

Life's a Beach Tiled Collage - Before and After

I actually made this tiled collage piece about 6 weeks ago and wasn't quite happy with it. It just seemed to need something more . . .

Here's a pic of the original finished piece that *needed something*

The stamped images are from a variety of different companys. I do remember that the ship is from Just For Fun rubber stamps and the diver is from Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers. I THINK the flamingo is from Uptown. Even tho' the flamingo had glitter accents on it's feathers, the nude's orb had crystal laquer applied, and there is a seashell and fish charms from an old braclet and trim; it just seemd to need something else to be complete.

I put the piece in a frame I had painted and crackled and set it aside with all my other half finished pieces, lol. I finally picked it up again yesterday and started adding to it. I think I went a bit overboard. Before it just needed a little something, now it's got a bit too much.

I added real sea shells and a piece of a sea sponge that were collected on some of our beach vacations along with some artificial grasses and feathers. What do you think?

Mark Twain Quote with Bird Woman

Metal Zen Bookmark

Here is a bookmark a made for a bookmark challenge. It is made of metal. I love embossing metal for craft projects, but have never purchased the tools to do so. I simply use an old ball point pen. Rubbing the metal with waxed paper helps my pen slide smoothly.

After the piece was completely embossed and my fingers almost entirely useless, I heated it with my heat gun to make the colors emerge. It has lovely shades of copper, red, orange, silver and blue. Hard to see in the pics.

Gingersnap Creations Botanical Challenge Entry

I made this for the Gingersnap Creations Random Red head Botanical Challenge.

Please keep in mind that although I have been crafting all my life and stamping about 20 years I've just returned from a forced 4 year leave from any and all craft type activities. Because of that, I'm having a hard time remembering exactly what company manufactured many of my um stamps.

This piece is in a wooden picture frame that was painted red, then overcoated with black and lightly sanded in spots to allow the red to show through.

The Rose stamp (company unknown) was stamped in black on the back of the glass. Glitter was applied to the rose, again on the back of the glass. Black Memories ink was applied all around the outside of the image by tapping the pad with my stiffest brush and just smooching it on the glass around the rose. This was placed in the frame with a piece of red foil behind it.

Oops, almost forgot. The Rose Woman image from the Greenwomen collection at Wild Frog Creations Rubber Stamps (can't forget that company, lol) was stamped on cardstock, colored and copied twice. One copy had all the flowers and leaves clipped off and layered on the original piece with thin mounting foam. The 2nd copy had only the roses cut out and layered again with additional mounting foam.
The entire Rose Woman was then distressed with brown ink and a sponge. This was mounted on the front of the glass.

I'm done with it for now. I may add additional elements later. This did not photograph well. I am posting 2 pictures which each show some part of the piece better than the other.

Found Objects Challenge Card

I decided to try one of the Challenges on the Gingersnap group. Entries due in today or tomorrow, so I probably won't enter it after all. Since I was participating late (and only I knew I was participating, lol) I just made a simple card. Almost everything on it is recycled.
The buttercup cardstock is the only element on the card that is NOT recycled.

The corrugated background is from a used USPS priority mail box. The outer white layer of paper on these boxes peel off easily to reveal the wonderful corrugated paper beneath.

Then there is a layer of used gift wrap that I had saved and the Frog Stamp from Wild Frog Creations was stamped on a scrap of white card from my scrap box. Colored with markers.

I had taken apart an old belt of mine (my waist grew) instead of donating it or trashing it. I saved the entire belt. I'll find a use for it. The three clear circular rhinestones with brass frames on the left side of the card are from that belt. The three brass nail heads below the frog are also from that belt.

The piece of leftover raffia was twisted in the middle with a piece of wire and attached as a bow.

I'll have to figure this out sooner or later, so I just came back to edit this post and follow the rules. Here is the link to the Found Objects Challenge at Gingersnaps.

Zentangle Woman

This is a cover I made for a large 8 1/2" X 11" journal. I do not have the journal finished as yet. Will post pics of completed project when it's done.

Several of Wild Frog's stamps have zentangle like doodles included in the images and I decided to play with adding more. This one includes the braided woman medallion. I stamped the image in the center of the piece first, then began to hand draw the zentangle around it. Turned out well, I thought.

Easter Card - Rabbit Farm

Image is from Wild Frog Creations Rubber Stamps colored with colored pencils, layered on green and black cardstock. Background paper is from Hot Off the Press. The rusted shovel came in a set of embellishments which included a rake and a hoe. I can't remember the company right now. I had to take it apart and cut the wooden handle shorter to fit it on the card. Much nicer than the misfit scary Easter card in the previous post.

My very 1st entry, so be patient. Building a web site with HTML I can do, working this drag and drop I'm not so sure of, lol.

Thought I'd start with some of my recent artwork, then add as I create.

This started out as an Easter card for my Grandchildren and it went horribly wrong. The colors did not scan well. Cardstock is a plum/purple. Background is actually from a Hellman's Mayo "wrapwich" wrapper. "Easter Frog" image is from Wild Frog Creations colored with colored pencils. Had the frog in the bunny suit already attached to the card with scraps of mounting foam instead of pop dots when I finally noticed the bats on the background and that it looked a bit spooky, so I added a spider web made of bits torn from mulberry paper and a plastic spider. The grass in the foreground is mulberry paper. I made a couple much friendlier cards for the grandkids.
